This past year, I've been going through a rough time. I wanted to commit to my blog, to my books, and I've tried to get lost in the world of my imagination, but it was no use. I literally put my love for books on hiatus.
It began in the last few months of 2012. My whole world turned upside down and I honestly didn't know how I would recover. I don't want to get into details, because - well, it's still hard for me to talk about, but I want you to know that I'm OK. Actually...I'm more than OK.
Now, one year later, I'm slowly getting back to where I want to be. I've been presented with opportunities, that I'll admit, were nerve wracking and still are - but I'm taking all the opportunities that I can get. I've decided not to make a resolution on New Years day, but to start right now. I started to write down all of these things that I want for myself and I created a motivation board for me to stay on track and pursue my dreams. I wanted to share with you my thought process on how you can do it too!
Sitting down to think about all the things that you want for yourself could either be scary because maybe you don't know what you want yet, and/or it could be very rewarding.
Start by asking yourself the following questions:
What were my past goals?
What barriers or concerns prevented me from reaching those goals.
What careers or hobbies did I do in the past that I enjoyed?
Was I happy?
What do I do now?
Do I enjoy this career?
Am I happy?
Is my current career something that I see myself continuing?
If I can do anything in the world, no barriers/nothing stopping me, what would it be?
What do I think it will take to get me to where I want to be?
What are my future goals?
Where would I like to see myself 1 year from now?
5 years from now? 10 years from now?
The questions may come easy for some, but for many, it might take some REAL thinking. I mean REAL thinking. Take some time to really think about your goals and what you want for yourself and you family. This is not a test, you're not going to get graded on it...but the sooner you figure it out, the sooner you can take the next steps toward your goal.
I hope you have a wonderful evening! Read my next post in a few days.
